REVIEW #8 — Jane and His Lordship’s Legacy
Jane and her family return to the country with the hope of a quiet life in a small village. But things go awry almost immediately with Jane’s discovery of a body in her new home’s cellar.
Don’t you just hate it when that happens?
This book is about treasure, perceived and otherwise. Jane’s mother is hilarious as she digs up the garden in search of rubies and the villagers think Lord Harold’s trunk is full of gold and jewels. The ton however, knows it for the repository of all manner of inflammatory documents that it is.
A good solid mystery against the backdrop of Jane’s true story. There are characters here that were real people in Jane’s day. I like that. And I liked the ending, with some things tied up nicely.
But it’s really too bad Mrs. Austen doesn’t find the rubies.
